Mr. Mehdi Jami: I totally agree with Jeff, regarding the French government’s decision on banning Muslim women’s scarf. In USA you can see all kind of national, religion symbolism. It is against law, to question anybody’s national and religion identity any school, university, employer denies the applicant based of national. religion, color, physical and mental disability, age, sexual orientation, sex and gender opens the door for lawsuit. . Mr. Mehdi Kkalaj’s opinion on freedom is narrow and limited. I have lots of respect for him and I have read his site but it seem to me maxim of “ mar gazideh az rismane sefid –o- siyah mitarsad ” really applies to our dear friend. He himself had religious study and now “ kaseyeh daghtar az ash “ shode. He rejects anything that has a tiny bit of religion and or tradition, as if there is a fantasyland some place in the world, which does not have any of these. This fantasyland does exist but only in pure idealist’s mind. I am not in France to really know what the super conservative Muslim leaders wants but there is no doubt in my mind that these stupid Mullahs wants to enforce the “shariaat” even in France, but their asking for polygamy not only is not acceptable but also is against the French and American law. Who cares if there are 5 Muslim women with headscarf among 1000, semi naked ones? After all American does not have any problem with it and have not caused any problem.
I want to ask Mr. Mehdi Khalaj, one simple question. Do not you think forcing devoted Muslim women to remove her scarf is even worse than physical torture? Why do you think that if you have solved certain issues for yourself, the others also must accept it? About having their own separate school etc. let them have it, but they should not be allowed to reject non-Muslims. In USA in some places the Jews have their own school but cannot reject any non-Jew applicant, it is against the law. They themselves have to come to the conclusion that separation etc is not good for them. Did Lenin and Stalin was successful in abolishing religion? Doe not you think that the more we try to control something the more we lose the power to control it? Just look at Cuba. Fidel Castro’s regime for decades had very harsh policy regarding prostitution and now prostitution is a very lucrative business and as a matter of fact even Fidel--- what a fancy name—sort of support it. After all the cold economical reality has more power than empty slogans. Did we forget in any earthquakes our mollas, buried men and women in same grave, because it was necessary?
PS:I am not old fashioned, conservative religious person, I am recovering post modernist.
